DUTIES

  • Investigative Unit Agents are assigned cases related to their Investigative field.
  • Investigative Unit Agents are the backbone of the Investigative Unit by completing their assignment in a timely and professional manner, enabling the senior investigator to accept new cases.

Training

New agents cannot receive a permanent appointment until they have satisfactorily completed TEN basic investigations in their investigative field.
In addition, agents will receive training in laws, regulations and investigative techniques related to their investigative field.

Assignment

The Investigative Unit has offices in Cincinnati OH, Saratoga Springs NY and New York City. The size of the area served by each of these offices varies according to the cases assigned.
Applicants must agree to move their residence to the area where they are permanently assigned.
Agents will occasionally be assigned to areas away from their residence. These assignments will usually be for a short duration. The agent is reimbursed for lodging and meal costs during this time in accordance with Affiliated Investigations Corp. travel policy.

Qualifications

High school education, G.E.D. or equivalent; 12 months training or experience in private investigations; valid driver’s license; must pass polygraph, psychological, physical examinations and background check.

Salary

The starting base pay for an agent is currently $18.05/hour. Forty-five cents per hour of shift differential pay is added for hours worked between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.
Authorized overtime (over 40 hours/week) will be paid at 1.5 times the hourly rate. Agents may request pay or compensatory time for overtime hours.

The Investigative Unit administers a written entrance examination for the position of Investigative Agent only once every two months. The applicants that take and pass this entrance exam will be placed on a waiting list to fill any future openings.
